I have an M21 out of a 68 Z28 and I want to find out if it's original.

Main Case #: 8885010 which I've figured out is correct for 66-67.

The code P01005 doesn't seem to match anything I've found as far as date code, but there is a clock symbol under Patent Code with 4 dots starting at 12 o'clock to 4 o'clock position and 7 in center and to lower left of it is 7-1 stamped in side.

The vin #: 6L115924

I believe this to have been built July 1st, 1967. Am I correct on this and is it a true Z28 Muncie, or how do I figure that out?

Thanks for help!

The main case casting number is actually 3885010 anbd was used in 1966 and 1967. Its not originally out of a 68 z/28

Thats a 1966 transmission from a Full size passenger car built in the LA Plant.

The P1005 (Muncie built Oct 5) is the other clue to 1966 because all 1967 trans had P7, then a letter for the month and 2 digits for the day.

the 1968 would of had a main case of 3925660.

Thanks Jonesy for your help!

Actually I posted that wrong, got in a hurry I guess.

It was actually a 67 Z28 the guy had, but either way he pulled one on me I guess. I know it'll work, but it's not original as I had first thought. I'll have to go back and change my ad. Somebody here probably thinks I'm a dumb-a$$ for listing it as an original 67 Z28 Muncie.

The P01005 threw me off too when I tried to research it, and all I really found is that it should have a letter code for the month, but factory errors happen and I just wasn't sure if this was one of them or not. Now I know!
