I looked up the vin. it tells me my 68 is a sport coupe by the #37. But when i was sanding the car and came too the org. paint it had SS stripes. How do i tell if it is a true SS car? Is there more tags than the vin. and the body?

osty, the TAG section is where this is discussed almost daily. Use the 'search' feature in the tag section and post your vin info as well. Most of the time folks can take some of the mystery out of what a car had. :) but on a 68, the cowl tag and vin wont tell you anything about it being an SS or not in most cases.

D90 and D91 stripes were optional an any non-SS / non-Z car.
