Hi I tried searching this but didnt find what I was looking for: were the 69 SS Hockey Stick Stripes painted on from the factory?
Someone I have spoke to at Chevyland stated to me, that from the factory, the SS stripe was painted on the front fender but had vinly on the doors? Half paint and half vinly? doesnt seem right to me.
Is there a web site that shows the correct 'factory' application of the SS stripe?
Thanks, Josh

Yep, that's right. I suppose it's so that the fender could be painted and the door portion would be easy to install without the necessity of going to the secondary paint booth.
For a definitive answer, wait for JohnZ to respond. He was there!!!

Fischer painted the car from the firewall back, GM painted the front fenders, hood and valances. Was probably easier for GM to paint the stripes and then tape the already painted doors, since the recoat time may already have elapsed and the paint may not have adhered to the doors properly. That way they wouldn't have any alignment issues either going from the front fender to the door.

so when restoring my 69 would it be better to just paint the stripes on both the front fender and doors?
or
Just use vinly stripes?
or
a combination of the two?
This is not going to be a bone stock, fully restored camaro so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Thanks for your replies,
Josh

They sell both a stripe and stencil kit and stencil only, so it's comepletely up to you.
Which reminds me... I need to ask about recoat time on ppg BC/CC one of these days. Or I suppose when I buy the stuff, I could just read the sheet.
