How are convertable tops repaired. ?? My wifes 2002 mustang convertable was recently slashed a 8 inch rip in the top by some vandals. Does the entire top need to be replaced or can it be "patched"??

It really depends on you and how you feel about it. I have seen them stitched up ( not pretty) and I have seen them heat patched.. Just depends if you can stand to see it like that... I did see one that they faked a seam all the way accross, looked a bit strange but..??..
