Hello, I need information on swaping in a Chevy350 into an "81" Pontiac Firebird Esprit. It came with a 265 V-8, a 200 tranny I believe,( identified by pan shape)...It has air conditioning and a corporate GM10 bolt axel. This car originaly came stock with either a 305turbo, or a 265 2-barrel carb. In 1980 this car came stock with a Pontiac 400 if it was from Detroit, and a pontiac 350 if from California; This car even came with a 350 Diesel. I know I have options. I've seen an 1980 with a Pontiac 400/with 350turbo tranny; So I need info, (books ect.) on wiring up a Chevy 350 to my "81" Pontiac which has a stock 265. Sounds like a chalenge? It will be done thru dedication, alot of $$$$$ and hard work! Thanks for reading this, Firebird man.

hey firebird man, welcome to our board.

Mechanically, itsa bolt-in. With the frame stands and motor mounts from the original application of that engine in that chassis, it will all go together.

Wiring and such shouldn't be too much of an issue in an 81, standard HEI and alternator and such, possible the starter could swap sides on you, but all the wires and connections should be the same no matter what engine you shoose. You could even use an Olds engine, as they came in that chassis too.
