After a year or two of procrastination, I am finally ready to put the pace car lettering on my 69. I first need to remove the pinstripes on my doors. I was hoping they had been applied on top of the paint which would have made for easy buffing off. After closer inspection, looks as if they are under the clear. I think this because I took some polishing compound and rubbed the heck out of a small spot and got no orange whatsoever on the rag. Plus, I can't really feel much of an edge on them. I even tried to scratch off a small piece with my fingernail to no avail. If they are under the clear, what is the best way to remove them? Will I have to reclear the doors after buffing through the clear to get at the stripes?

If they are under the clear you will have to sand them off and possilbly touch up the white then reclear the doors.
