Any tricks on how to make the front grill fit properly. I'm having problems getting the bottom edges on the curved section to fit into the fender. It's an aftermarket grill but I'm hoping to find a trick somewhere out there to make it fit. It almost looks like the fender extensions are not allowing it back far enough into the opening.
Help, Dennis

Do you have GM or aftermarket fenders and valence? The after market valences seem to be a little long which in turn pushes the fenders out at the bottom. I had a problem similar to yours where the grill fit in the upper curve of the fenders but there was a little gap on both sides on the bottom. I had given thought to notching the top and bottom flanges on the panel and bowing it a little to fill in the gap. Instead, I found a GM valence and that solved the problem for me. Thank god I did a trial fit of everything prior to taking the car to the paint shop. Just my 2 cents.

My grille, fenders, and valence are all NOS. Larry Christianson pointed out a potential fit problem in the area you mentioned. He did not say it was limited to repop combinations, however. I had my opainter do a trial fit prior to paint, thinking it might need some tweaking, but mine fit fine.

The grill is a tricky booger to fit. You may have luck with reshaping the grill mounting surfaces on the extensions and the tinnerman nut locating tabs. Bend the tabs closer and see if the extensions are pushing out from behind the grill. A few whacks on the front of the extensions with a hammer helped mine a bunch redface.gif Seriously!

Thanks for the inputs. The whole front end if aftermarket (Goodmark) It does seem that fender to fender is a little longer as I have gaps on both ends and the bottom sticks out. The extensions seem to be the major problem besides the gap. Will try the hammer idea.
