Just from experience, I would have one or two buddies help you out on the initial install. One under the car to guide the tranny and one on the opposite side of you to help prevent the dreaded impact on the new body and paint. Been there done that and it isn't pretty.

If you're using headers, wire up the driver's side header in the engine compartment in its approximate location before you install the engine. Saves a lot of headache down the road. The passenger side header usually doesn't prove to be too difficult to install afterward.

I just did it this weekend myself.... to prevent the little bumps i created for my self. some people will think I am over reacting, but the below takes 5 minutes and saves tons

1. scoot the cross member back
2. have jack with board ready to hold up the engine
3. cover the front with moving blankets
4. NO fan on yet wait till in the car
5. remove the oil dip stick tube
6. remove the distributor
7. lower engine with leveler down toward firewall to tilt in tranny.
8. ON ABOVE, remove tranny keep the bell housing on, it i will be easier to line up
9. REPLACE MOTOR MOUNTS, keep top two bolts on each side loose., tighen once in
10. put 2x4's (blocks) above your frame to orriginally lower the engine so it does not bang
11. get a folded piece of cardboard to protect radiator if already in when lowering it.
12. drop it in
13. use a big phillips to line up holes for mounts
14. one will go on good, the other will be a pain, give it a tap with a mallet
15. oops forgot to tell you to blanket below where your oil pan will hit so you dont mess that up.
16. get good with your crane adjusting before in you car, see if you can lower it 1/8 of an inch at a time out of the car.
