I'm getting ready to have my control arms powder coated and can't really tell what pieces are meant to come out with respect to the bushings. Do I beat them in or out? :) I know the question sounds silly, but I've got two subframes and they arms on both are either rusted or dirty to the point I can't see any indicators.

Also in the upper conrol arm there is a rubber pad which has a nipple poking through the top. Does this thing have a name?

The bushings are removed from the outside of the arm. They have a lip on the outside edge. the upper arm's holes have a raised outside edge that stops the bushings from being flush against the arm, and the lower arm allows the bushing to be flush against the arm. I happened to have a hydraulic press so I could do mine myself (although it was still something of a pain.) I pushed out the old ones and pressed in the new. Beating the old bushings out with a hammer might bend up the edges and make it harder to remove. You might want to have an auto shop install the new bushings.

The rubber thing is just called a bumper, and is there I think so that the arm does not hit the frame in case it bottoms out.

I used my cheap $10.00/$15.00 Harbor freight Tool air chisel using a cold chisel bit to knock them out! Worked fine.

Do a search under me to find out all the ends and outs of doing this correctly b/c we, (the guys and myself), have posted a lot about doing this to save us cheap-SK-8's some money!!

It's actually easy to do if you want to, imho.....................

I like the Swiss Chees method of drilling the rubber bushing so full of holes they fall out then press in the new ones after you get the outer sleves out (hack saw a slot and they fall out).
