View Full Version : '69 Z/28 Engine Lifting Brackets Location dh302 Jul 12th, 06, 10:14 AM All, Does anyone know the correct location of the engine lifting brackets on a '69 Z/28? Thanks. Doug madmax87 Jul 12th, 06, 12:55 PM Passenger rear intake bolt, driver front intake bolt. dh302 Jul 12th, 06, 03:31 PM If I have the correct brackets, one of them is bigger and takes two bolts. Does the bigger bracket go to the front of the engine, or the rear? Thanks. Doug madmax87 Jul 12th, 06, 03:50 PM Doug, I don't remember the 302 having a 2 bolt bracket. I might be wrong. Mine are missing. If you have a 2 bolt bracket, it goes on the front drivers side intake bolts. Gary L Jul 12th, 06, 10:55 PM If I have the correct brackets, one of them is bigger and takes two bolts. Does the bigger bracket go to the front of the engine, or the rear? Thanks. Doug The two bolt is not the correct one. Both take 1 bolt. Unreal Jul 13th, 06, 12:03 PM When I located the brackets for my b/b, they guy had two 2 holers for the dirver side front, with different bolt patterns. We checked them against a b/b intake, and I got the one that fit it. He said the other was for small block. I guess he must have been wrong. On the b/b the rear pass side one is a rectangle and goes in a bolt hole on the back of the head, not to an intake bolt. madmax87 Jul 13th, 06, 12:53 PM I don't think he was wrong, there just not right for the 302. I've had 2 bolt lift brackets on small blocks but for they were for later model engines. I believe the 302 brackets had a letter K on them. I had a picture of them but of coarse can't find it. Sometime they will be on ebay. I used to throw them away. Who would of thought I'd be buying them back. dh302 Jul 13th, 06, 01:10 PM Thanks. Doug af1fe Jul 13th, 06, 04:39 PM Some of them for the 302 also had the "Omega" symbol stamped on them. Gary L Jul 13th, 06, 08:57 PM I download every original picture I can find. Here is one from an original Z/28 showing the front bracket. I can't remember where it came from, since I have so many now. I have a picture from a restored 302 showing the wrong bracket also. The double bolt version may be a BB bracket or '70 and later. Unreal Jul 14th, 06, 07:28 AM The guy aslo had the one in Gary's pic, I remember the little notch on the corner and the 30* or so bend. he said it was the rear for b/b, but had gotten bent. He had another one without the notch and bend, and a littl larger hole, which I got from him. I've also seen a single one that is flat with sort of a j shape and both top corners cut. What's that one for? |
