Does anyone here have any experience with Blueprint Engines? I think they are out of Nebraska, and are available through Jegs. Seems like they have a pretty good reputation, the price is good and they have a 24 month 24000 mile warranty. But I was hoping someone could chime in that has one of their engines or has had personal experience with them.

Thanks for the help.

Do yourself a favor and hunt up a local rebuilder and get one off him and drive over and pick it up and haul it home.

Look on the web for engine rebuilders that are certified and I figure that you will be fine!!

Truck freight gets high for shipping engines due to weight here is all, imho.. Plus, if it goes bad, the supplier is local to deal with...

I have one and couldn't be more pleased with it. The motor was delivered to my front door at a very reasonable cost. Many say get one built from a local builder because of the warranty, if it was done correctly you don't need a warranty. Also many say get a crate motor, compare how much HP and torque you get for your money with a Blueprint motor compared to a crate motor. I have had mine now for over a year and put over 3K miles on it with out a single issue, including a few runs at the track.

On their web site is also a picture of my motor.

68,
Which motor did you get, a 355 or 383? I see you are running a Holley. Is it a 750? Thanks for your input!!!!

I'm currently putting one of their 383s in a customer's 68 Nova.

I made the upgrade from the Edelbrock carb to a Holley 770 Avenger. This is how it came out of the crate. I think the cost and warranty were the selling point for me.

This one twisted the dyno to 443 Tq/ 408 HP. at the flywheel. (The funky rubber fuel line is temporary) I'm not crazy about the offshore "Air-Gap" manifold, but I'm going to give it a shot since it came with the motor.

Also using one of the new Richmond Super Street 5-speeds with O/D.

It will be stabbed into the car soon.

Let me know how that Beauty runs. I'm looking at the 383 also. You got the dress kit? How did they protect the wires from being pinched and the distributer from being hit? I'm probably going to get the non-dressed one.

Looks sweet!!

Yeah, that was what they call the dressed version.

The crating was outstanding, and nothing was damaged in transit.

I'll post how it runs.

I purchases the 355, the motor dynod at 383 HP 407 Torque.

The car with a 355 gear, munci M21, 15's in the rear, the car dynod at 301 HP.

I have a Holly 670 Street Avenger. On the dyno the air / fuel was perfect. Yes I would like to put a 750 double pumper on it but we drive it every weekend and would like some halfway descent gas mileage.

At the track it ran 103.84 MPH in 13.915 in the 1/4.

One more thing........

You can order it direct from them, if you go through Jegs and you have a problem you will have to contact them anyway. Plus, they will paint the block almost any color you want as well as what side you would like the dip stick on. If you would like any other changes they will make them as well.

Victor,
I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The Blueprint Engine 355 is $2900 with 385HP vs the 260HP of the GM. THe $/HP of Blueprint is approx $7.50/HP and GM is approx $8.60/HP. Do the math and let me know what you think. Not to mention the lack of motor for that particular GM.

Lets talk Apples and Apples here.

Victor isn't looking at the BP vortec engines. If you look at the BP 355's they are twice the price for less HP than their vortec's. The GM's he's looking at 1970-1985 are not vortec either...

I see no reason why a blueprint engine wouldnt be a bad choice? Im actually going to purchase there 383 vortec long block non dress. My buddy dropped a 350 into his pre runner and its been through some hard times and its still strong as day 1.

guys, please do not get me wrong..I'm 100% sure that blueprint engines are really good...but remember I'm all new to this.

all I said is that why go with a blue print if that gm crate engine is cheaper..plus it comes with everything... the blueprint one doesnt come with everything?
I guess you guys call "everthing" ... "dressed up?"

please guide me if im wrong...

They offer the engines in dressed or long block. Long block if u dont know is everything but the intake distributor carb pretty much. U will still need headers or exahust manifolds, a starter and a OIL! Yes u need oil woo! Haha. If its dressed then all u need are the headers or exhaust manifolds oil and a good ol starter. Im pretty sure the fly wheel too i forgot about that!

One important item to consider if delivering to your home by truck/freight, be sure to have your engine hoist ready. I know 98.7% of you don't have a fork lift in your garage or at the neighbor's house, or alot of neighbors to help unload.

The driver is on a schedule, his/her trailer/box is loaded with freight according to history and addresses given for a planned route during working hours.

Sometimes the freight company, if delivering to a residence, will call a day or two before to ask about a person being there and maybe, unloading style. It is cheaper for you to take your truck to the freight company and have them load it into your bed. Then you can use an engine lift to unload at home.

Just some food for thought.

I agree with the above statement for most company's but, always a but, Blueprint requires the freight company to have a tailgate lift and floor jack to unload the motor. They will take it into your garage and drop it off. Just another reason I purchased mine from them.
