Hi All new to the forum, I have a 1969 SS 350....
I do not have the original engine, so I have not been overly worried about keeping everything numbers original perfect. Like the butternut yellow.....

I am wanting to install a floor shifter it has a TH350 and I would like to someday put in a RamJet 350 & a 700-R4 (We can dream right)
It has the shift on the column for the auto, and my understanding is that the center console was an option. Was the Console shift option recorded in a trim tag etc? I have idiot lights and I would really like Gauges...

But I also don't want to violate the heritage and accuracy of the car...

It was painted white when I got it, but I want to eventualy paint it Yellow, Corvette maybe Not Butternut.....

Any info advice opions etc? I talked with the Year One guys, and looked at them and a few other sources for parts.

Thanks
Texas 69 SS 350

putting the console in the car is not hard, and all the parts to do it are readily available. The guage package is a bit harder to do, more wiring, but again available and do-able

Options such as console are not noted on the trim tag in 68 or 69.

Doing either of these "totally correct" can be somewhat involved, new dash harness rather than guage conversion harness, and dealing with the shifter stubb on the column and making the backup lights and neutral safety switch work and such... there are shortcuts, but these would be noticeable if someone looked hard.

As for keeping it stock, well that's a matter of choice, your choice.
Personally, I think a column shifted SS is kinda cool and unique. It's probably easier to adapt the column shifter to a 4 speed auto than it is to retrofit the console, shifter, and guages. A good $1500 cheaper, too.

Thanks for the welcome, and butternut might be ok, but just doesn't speak to me......
I have a buddy that loves Novas and hates 427 Cobras
I am the opposite..... just the great part of cars I guess...

if someone has a great 1969 ss Butternut yellow pic with hockey sticks i might flip, but till then.... I just haven't seen the paint well enough to like it.....

As far as the console goes I realize the expense after talking with yar one.... I may go for just a console for now and upgrade to the gauge set when I'm ready for more pain & $$.....

You can see the pic of my car on my profile.... I've had it since 1997 it was a daily driver for the first year.... then had to upgrade to the A/C'd chevy pickup.... great fun to drive but with a 3.73 rear hiway is loaded than I wanted too....
