86 350TPI. When the engine has warmed up and I stop somewhere for a half hour to an hour and then have to slowly idle out of a parking lot and sit to wait to get out onto the road etc. I get this condition where the idle is very rough and results in stalling unless I keep my foot on the brake and keep the revs up with the accelerator. After I can accelerate normally the problem goes away. Someone told me about open/closed loop but gave no suggestions for correcting it. Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing you should look at is the Idle Air Controller (IAC) it's a round can, about an inch in diameter and an inch long, located on the throttle body. It has a small plunger inside, 2 mounting scrws, and an electrical connector. The things get gummed up and stick sometimes, causing a low erratic idle. Take it off and clean the guts out, including thew hole in the throttle body where the plunger goes.
