I've noticed that quite a few people have done the 3rd gen power steering box swap into the first gen platform. I have directly swapped an early S-10 manual steering box into a 3rd gen. The only obstacle in the swap from S-10 to 3rd gen is that the only correct Pitman arm is from an '82 non-power steering car, which, coincidentally, you can't buy a replacement for. Now, here's my question: Seeing as the S-10 box is a direct bolt-in to the 3rd gen, and the 3rd gen is a direct bolt-in to the 1st gen (disregarding the rag joint, fluid fittings, and pitman arm), would the S-10 box bolt into the 1st gen platform? Has anyone attempted this? What is the correct Pitman arm to use?
