I havent even started on the car yet,but i was wondering what color stripe it should have.Lemans blue car with standard black interior. I would imagine black, but you see a lot of blue cars with white. could it be either?? I'll be stripping it soon so maybe i can find some evidence.

thanks much

Usually the stripe color follows that of the interior...unless you have a black car w/ black interior, then you will use white stripes. Maybe the experts can clear this up!

My 69 is Lemans Blue black int with a White hockey stick, original paint.
I think you could have either way?

From the CRG decoding page, the following footnote:

1969: While the dealer literature reports that a black stripe is the default color with LeMans Blue, only white stripes have been observed in practice, except for special orders.

LMB/White Stripes is my favorite color combo.

When the stripe color can be either black or white, I usually prefer white.

Stripe color was determined by Chevrolet, it was not up to the buyer. There are a few cars with non-normative stripe colors but they are "- - " paint codes.

Red was also possible for the D90 stripe.

not sure if that is correct. I believe you had your choice of black or white for certain colors like Lemans Blue and Hugger Orange. I know they put red stripes on Burgundy cars.

The 1969 Dealer Ordering Information stripe color chart shows that with a LeMans Blue exterior, all exterior striping is white, unless the car has a black vinyl top or black convertible top, in which case the striping is black.

not sure if that is correct.

It is. Stripe color was up to the factory.

If you have the original fenders and front cowl try sanding down the paint and see if the old paint is still there.

Depends on which camp you are in. Original or What you like.
Original is white unless you have a black vert or vinyl top.

If you are like me, I questioned this white on blue color combination years ago. My Lemans Blue Big Block car had a black tail pan and body sills. Why not white if this was the color for Lemans blue. Why was this color not included to have a choice based on interior color like so many other colors. My conclusion and of course this is my opinion, The Lemans blue Z28 looks awesome with white stripes reguardless of interior color. Ding....default color is white because black looks bad on hood and trunk.

My car has alot of black on it. Interior, grill, tailpan, body sills, wheelwells, tires, and SS mag wheels. I put black D90 stripes despite the original picture of my car with white stripes. To me, it looks right and there are many more in this camp. The black is subtle and deepens the blue and with all the chrome.....WOW! Its not right but it sure looks right. But again that is my opinion and your choice to make.

I just did and found some traces of WHITE !!!!!! I have to tell you....white is the color of choice, but i'm leaning towards black.
So far i've owned/painted three 69 camaros blue with a white hockey stick stripes. I did them because i liked that look, but I think its time for a change. I recently saw one on ebay with black stripes and it looks so subtle ,yet nice. I'm a long way away.........But black it is !!!!!

thanks......

PS.....My last blue one i just sold can still be seen on EBAY. Auction #4649401597. Blue with a white hockey stick !!!!!!!!!
