My wife will be spending approx 10 days in Norway on a hiking/traveling vacation with some friends. Any advice on sites to research, managing meal/lodging expenses, etc? Thanks in advance.

Beautiful place but the cost of living is high. If you plan top spend any time in the cities look into buying day passes for public transportation. Where are you going to be visiting? Marktat Jul 19th, 06, 02:27 PM I spent several years in Scandinavia. Bring good sunglasses as the sun hangs low forever before setting. Also weather can be wacky this time of year; it can be chilly (high 40's) and roasting hot (90's). Humidity is typically low compared to New Jersey and it rains more often. Most things are significantly more expensive. Particularly shampoo, toothpaste and other everyday items are super expensive. People seem to cook much more at home compared with US and restaurants are saved for special occasions...and are priced accordingly. However, fast food can be reasonable priced. Drivers are much more aware of bicycles, right turns on red are illegal. IMO your wife is considerably safer on a bicycle in Norway than here. I appreciate it all. |
