Is anyone planning on attending the Car Craft Nationals in St Paul this weekend? I'm planning on driving the Camaro there on Saturday (from River Falls, WI), is anyone else coming in from Wisconsin? In the evening I'll for sure be down at the University Avenue area, more specifically Porky's Drive-In, it's an impressive cruising scene down there that weekend.

Please make sure you stay away from the Snelling and Universty intersection. Not only is this a bear, they have special pollution monitors. Ask around when you get to Car Craft on how to get there.

Lately, Porkys has been a bust. The city isn't real fond of it, and they've been cracking down.

Another option FRIDAY is a relatively short jog to North St. Paul. It is a nice cruise-in in an old-town stlye. Parking on the street and in parking lots, as well as food vendors and such. I'm passing, as my dad's coming up to stay with me, and I have to meet him at my house.

SATURDAY, there's the Anoka river run cruise-in. About a 10-15 mile jog to the north corner of Minneapolis. I'll probably go there. It's a city-welcomed deal where they close down the streets for pre '75 cars, and they park all around the courthouse and area. Again, vendors, music, etc.

Ask around, or if you can find me, I can give you directions to either. I have a red/white top 72 Chevelle with Torq-Thrusts and a crappy interior.

Huh? Porky's has been great this summer! I've been down there every Saturday night except July 2nd weekend, it's always been a great time. Good clean non-alcohol family entertainment. St Paul police come through at 8pm and make sure no one is parking on the street, but as long as you don't try burnout demonstrations you'll have no problems. The scene down there can be congested with muscle cars but isn't that what summer cruising is all about?

Friday night North St Paul History Cruise is also a good time, lots of high-buck cars, doesn't have the cruising scene like university avenue does.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Terry,
You may want to give Hastings a try on a Saturday night too...Every other Saturday they shut down the old downtown area and have a show. 5-10 pm

Weekend before last I bet they had over 300 cars.... No cruising , but close...

Jim, I haven't heard from you since last fall, I just sent you an email today...no I haven't been to Hastings on a Saturday night. Tomorrow night I'll be down at Car Craft and then university avenue, looks like the weather is going to cooperate, at least it'll be cooler than last weekend...Terry M.
