Max,
I will be there again this year (I go every year). Lunch sounds good to me. Once again I am not sure what I will be driving up there but, I do know I will be there. I'm going up Thursday and staying until Sunday.

I live for HAN, and have been the last 5 years! The swap meet and car auctions are pretty darn good, and we always go up to Tahoe, and Virginia city. My buddys aunt lives a few blocks off the main road and we stay for free, God love her!

I'll be there too. Gotta get the rest of the stuff over at Summit so I can finish my motor. Not sure when I'll be there though.

Gents - How about lunch at Red Robin on Kietzke and McCarran at 11:30 on Friday? The rumor mill has it that nikkisdad is buying :beers:

Is there a database of people going to HAN where we can all figger out a way to connect up there? I'll be up there from 8/2 to 8/5 with the family and would love to meet some of the other "family".

Max,
Red Robin worked fine last year so, lets do it again this year. 11:30 sounds fine to me. I'll be there. There is plenty of room and it's not so loud in there that we can't talk.

Jul 21st, 06, 10:20 AM
I'll be there from the 28th through the 4th or 5th. Anybody going to race their cars at Fernley? I'll be at Fernley on the 29th and the 4th.

Dreamweaver - Are you bringing your car?

dreamweaver
Jul 21st, 06, 12:43 PM
Yes, I'm bringing my car, er, the white one.... not the green SS, or the balck 383 stroker, just the white one. I don't know if I will be racing it or not, because I don't think they are having a mini-van class this year. Could somebody check on that and get back to me please? http://www.camaros.net/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

I'll be staying at either Harvey's in south Shore or at Tahoe Seasone in south Shore. I have a room booked at Harvey's and, if a room opens up at Tahoe Seasons, I'll take that instead. So, if someone needs a room, and it works out that I get the room at Tahoe Seasons, let me know and you can have my reservation.

So, is Red Robin's a ocnfirmed date? Has anyone made a reservation, and do we know for how many. For me I will be have my wife and 2 girls (so watch yourselves boys :) if that's OK. Would love to meet some of you.

Personally, if anyone else wants to, I think it would be a good idea to exhchange cell numbers so that we can connect with each other up there in case someone finds out about some "inside" or non-posted event that we might want to go to. I have relatives and friends up there, and they may have some inside scoop as to who, what, where, etc.

If anyone wants my cell number PM me and I'll give it to you.

I'm not sure they even take reservations. We didn't have any problem last year but, it doesn't hurt to check.

Steve,
We will have to exchange cell numbers. I am not sure what you are into but, if you want to hang out away from downtown and see some rowdy cars, there is a good place to go.

Maybe I could manage to have my wife drop me off somewhere, she could go and show the kids her old stopming grounds (she grew up there), and I could "hang with the boys" for a while? I'll already be there, so give me a call when you land and maybe we can make a plan (Royce or anyone else),

Red Robins sounds cool as well, and I look forward to meeting you guys, Mike or nikkisdad. P.S. I will be traveling with another couple if that is ok at the red robin.

Steve you are welcome to hang out with me if you would like. On Friday and Saturday night, I go to the cruise in Sparks after the cruise I head over to A&W Rootbeer on Kietzke there is usually a very large crowd of fast cars that hang out there. During the day on Saturday I usually make a trip to Summit Racing, the swap meet, and the auction. Other than those plans the rest of the time is free. I will be in Reno by about noon on Thursday (tomorrow) 8/3.

I'll be at Red Robin Friday at 11:30 for lunch as well. Hope to see you guys there.

Hey Royce (and you other TCers there!) hows HAN?
Hope your Red Robin meet-up was good
Looks like the weather is better this year.
Hope you're enjoying the cars and shows - let me know if you see any F-100 parts the kid can't live without ;)
I wish I was able to get up there this year, but the Dr. appointments with the misses are more important right now - maybe next year...
Have you seen the Die-Cast for the show this year?

Wishing I was there;

I was down there on Friday - went to Virginia City and tried to have a beer in each bar - didn't quite make it. Saw some beautiful cars, notably El Mule at the Hilton on Friday night. Saw a 9,000 original mile Pace Car at The Atlantis and an absolutely breautiful red SS/RS 396 convert with air, PW, rear defrost etc.etc. in Sparks on Sat AM. Along with many other beautiful Chevelles, Novas, and waaaaaay too many Cobra replicas. Always a fun trip.

Max, We were wondering where you were. Sorry we missed you.

Once again Team Camaro has exceeded my expectations. I met with the two Steve's from Modesto (deamweaver and 69SS396), Mike from Utah (nickisdad) all from this site. It was a pleasure meeting and hanging out with all of them. Very nice guys. As a bonus Mike (nickisdad) had hiw wife Arlene <sp> along and Steve's (dreamweaver) wife Valerie stopped by as well. Two of Mike's friends joined us also (Larry and Pat).

69SS396, I went out to the track on Friday evening but, I didn't see you there, hopefully all went well. It was a bit windy and dusty so I only stayed about an hour and a half. That is not the best place to watch a race or to race from what I could see. Was it as uphill as it looked? They also didn't leave much room for a decent burnout. How did your car run?

I think there was another member there with a blue blown big block, 1968 Camaro (if I remember right).

John,
I wish you could have made it but, priorities are far more important. We will make it to a few shows and HAN in the future. I thought about calling you but, I figured you were busy with the misses. If it makes you feel better I don't think this years event was as good as last years or previous years. You would have enjoyed meeting the guys (and gals) very nice people.

Royce - It was great meeting you and your wife along with everyone else. I finally made it into the pits at Fernley around sundown. The line was so long it took about 45 minutes just to get in. By the time I unloaded the car and got through tech it was starting to rain. Some people left when it started raining but most stayed. I ended up racing a friend of mine who owns a blue '67 SS/RS Camaro with Centerlines. His car has a 383 with AFR 210 heads, a solid roller and nitrous. I ran a quicker time but he beat me with a hole shot. It was a great race, he got me by about a half a car at the end and I was reeling him in. Can you post the picture that your wife took of everyone in front of my car?

Thanks, and next year lunch is on me.

Steve,
The picture my wife took was with Steve's (dreamweaver) camera. Hopefully he will post them.

I didn't walk through the pits at the track (they were a ways away from the starting line). It looked like it was going to rain but, I thought it broke up. The wife was getting cold and the dirt/sand was flying around pretty good, up on the hill. I wish I would have stuck around to see you make a pass or two.

Sorry for the delay. I extended my stay a little and just returned home late last night. I ditto the sentiments expressed above……. It was great meeting other TC members. What a great bunch of people. Our “lunch” was more than just an “eat and greet”… it was like a reunion of people who had never met before.

After lunch Royce and his wife, Nellie (sp?) let me hang out with them for a while at the auction (my first experience). Royce taught me quite a bit as we cruised the aisles looking at cars for sale and later at the auction block. Fortunately Royce and Nellie prevented me from getting a paddle, otherwise it could have been dangerous.http://www.camaros.net/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Steve:
Thanks for posting those
Like you said - all a great bunch of people !!!
Thank you for captioning the last couple photos - I was thinking they were talking about why you would 'back' a car on the trailer :beers:

Royce:
Funny you said it wasn't quite the show last couple of years were - a couple other good friends said they had fun and enjoyed the cars, but something seemed to be missing this year.
Maybe just the weather was a little cooler so the girls were wearing more... ;)
Seriously, glad to hear you all could get together and have some fun up there this year - still bummed I couldn't get up there :(
We'll talk soon about some of the shows coming up. I got to get over to see your progress on that Buick thingy also ;)
Stay in touch and let me know if you need anything.

John,
That's funny that you mentioned the car being backed on the trailer, that was actually discussed at one point. There was a good reason for it.

As far as my Buick, I've decided to have custome headers made for it. I weighed out the option of me making them and for the cost (including the mistakes I will make) it just seems smarter to have them made. I will be taking the car down to Paso Robles Friday morning, to have Lemons Headers make a set custom to the car. Not cheap but, I have heard lots of good things about their work.

Hot August Nights are gone, but meeting TC members Royce (Camaroman7d), Steve (Steve69SS396), Steve (Dreamweaver), and their familys was a absolute pleasure. It is not often you can meet someone, sit down and have lunch with them, and feel as if you have known them your whole life. I hope they all feel the same way I do and look forward to the chance to get together again. Royce, I looked at your project pictures, and WOW that car is going to be coooool! Steve (Steve69SS396), maybe next year time will allow me to go out and see your car run, it looks pretty fast to me. Steve (Dreamweaver), I cant thank you enough for showing my best side in your photo, it may land me a movie role in hollywood! Just goes to show, car guys & gals are the best, Mike.

John,
... I will be taking the car down to Paso Robles Friday morning, to have Lemons Headers make a set custom to the car. Not cheap but, I have heard lots of good things about their work.

I've heard of Lemon's, but don't think I've ever seen their work. I can empathize with your choice of having them done by pro's - snaking them big pipes through that little Buick would not be my idea of fun... You going with Stainless or mild steel?
Have a good trip down there! Looks like you picked a good weekend, the temps are down and the coast is supposed to be pretty clear of fog according to my nephew in Santa Barbara.

From the pictures and tone of the replies to the thread, it sure sounds like you've met some new Camaro friends :beers: may be time to consider getting a Camaro for Nellie so there's at least one of them in the family - and you could always give it to your son, he's almost old enough to drive

As far as the 'why the car is on the trailer backwards' - I just know it would of been one of my first questions...
I once almost lost a Grand Torino (yeah - there's quite a few F@%d's in my closet ;) ) that I had to load backwards due to hwy traffic - the lack of wieght on the tongue was causing my truck to feeling real 'loose' in the "aurse" on a turn - lucky there was a wide shoulder

On the 'GOOD NEWS' front! We went to the radiologist yesterday and got the first "Clear" mamogram ever
The wife is very comfortable with the results and is feeling better about the outcome every day.
She was sitting with me watching "Rides" with me last night and when they got to that 'GoodGuys' segment in the show, she actually said 'that looks like fun... I should go with you to one of those' :D
First time she ever showed any interest in a car event
You can hardly keep me away from her Quilt Shows

Mike (nikkisdad);
Glad to hear you got to meet this great group of fellow members
I haven't met anyone from the site that I didn't feel was like some long lost High School buddy or someone I wouldn't have chosen for a friend all along.

:D I agree Scott
But, I've got this wayward group of friends, and my own son, that seem to really enjoy all those 'old cars' ...
I really only go to check out the workmanship, get new ideas and to socialize with friends with cars in the show.
Actually, it's kinda nice sometimes to go as a spectator and not have to go through cleaning up my own vehicles, finding a good parking space and having to stay close by at times.
A couple of the vendors are good friends also, so it's fun to see them and get to talk to them if their not really busy.
