Just getting around to getting the suspension in a 68 camaro i'm putting together for a friend and the tires he chose seem a little "lost" in the wheel well. Its a pro touring car with all the bells and whistles. Its got DSE 2" drop springs in the rear with a 18x10 rim and M/T Sportsman SR 26x10.00R18lt tires.the car has the full DSE minitub kit,so it has plenty of room. These tires only measure 10.6" wide. Does anyone make a 26-27" tall tire thats 12-14" wide.Remember its an 18" rim and the car has over 650HP with a tremec trans.so its gonna need all the help it can get in the traction department. the car also sits a little high now but i'm sure it will settle when its all together.
thanks much....

A 335/30/18 is 26" tall, but it certainly doesn't offer a lot of sidewall for planting the tire.

You need to ask yourself what you want the car to do. If you want a PT car you need to give up some straightline traction to facilitate lateral traction. If you want 1320 traction then the inverse is true. The olny way to really have both is two sets of rims.

I know..... the car is never gonna be a bracket car, But I'm still looking for as much traction as possible. Bottom line is..... the look is what were after.. Performance will be what it is. What do most people run on 67-68's with the pro-touring treatment. 2-sets of rims are a pricey affair,at $700 a peice!!!
At least we got the backspacing right !!!!

I hear you there. How about 800 for each and they milled them incorrectly. At least the made it right for me.
Since the 68 has a more rounded wheel housing lip than a 69 you may need to add a lowering block to get the back down to where you want. Even after the springs settle.
One issue I see is your tire size is limited by your rim width of 10". BFG has a 295/35 that has a section width of 11.9". The actual tread width will be a little narrower than that. You may be able to fit a 315 tire, but it will be tight.

Nitto has NT 555R
size 305/35ZR18 dia. 26.42 sec. width 12.4 rec. rim size 10.0-(11.0)-12.0
There really isn't much in the way of 18" DR's out there.

BFGoodrich makes a 345/30/18 drag radial, but I doubt you'd get that to fit with the offset leaf setup. Their 315/30/18 would work though.
