: cost for parts?

I bought an original 67 ss vert from my friend about two years ago. He changed just a couple of things and one of them was the front brakes. He put disc brakes on and now wants to sell me his old drum brakes and an original GM starter. Are they worth anything? Do I really need them?
Thanks

Not much of a buddy if the old parts didn't come with the price of the car... If you need them, well that's up to you and what direction you plan to go with the car. Most point judging will make exception for things like added disc's, shocks and tires unless you are being judged in gold class or what ever the highest levels of judging are called.

Offer your buddy a 12 pack for them, my guess is they will just take up storage space in your garage...

That's about how I feel. I told him I would check to see if they are worth anything. You know how some friends are, there are some who are high maintenance and some who are low maintenance.

I personally would never go back to a drum brake setup, and I'm a purist. The starter only has value if it was the original one that came with car, and even then the value is marginal. I'd say Dennis has the right idea, offer him a twelve pack. Or better yet, tell him you'll take a twelver to haul the stuff away.

If you want the car all original (as original as it can be), get them and use them. If not, and you are happy with the car as is, tell your buddy to enjoy them.

Shouldn't the SS have had discs from the factory?

Disc's were optional in '67...
