I know how to adjust the headlights up or down. In or out. But what I DONT know is the correct angle and height when they're shining on the garage door. Is there a formula such as distance the car should be from the door? Like E=GM2 ?

Wish I could help.
Back in the 60's and 70's I knew the measurements at ~20 ft; used it all the time.
Guess being a product of the 60's is catching up with me! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif

I was told that you measure back 35 feet, park the car there and measure the height of the headlights and then they should measure 4 inches lower at that distance shining on your garage door.

Good question. What about right to left distance once the height is set ?. Is it the same distance as lights on the car ?. I remember that in states where they do safety inspections there was a fixture they would use at the headlight. I thought it suction cup to the headlight and had two axis levels on it to align the light.

Bring it to a body shop. They can aim them with either a computerized or the old style aimers (we have both), and it should only cost about 1/2 hours worth of labor (which here would cost you $24.00). The computerized systems can even tell you how many candle watts your lights are putting out.
