I hate body work!

Does the bottom 3" of a '69 door curve inwards slightly? Or is it flat?
About 3" up from the bottom edge is a body line where the shape of the skin changes direction. I'm trying to smooth the body work I've done in the lower corners and can't really tell if I need to be shaping it with an inward curve or make the bottom 3" of the door skin flat.

Did I mention that I HATE body work? And I'm just getting started.

It should have a slight curve. The best and really only accurate way to get it right is to have the door on the car.

OK, it LOOKS flat there.
If I look along the edge of mine like in your photos, the edge is flat. But inwards a little bit from the front and rear edge the skin seems to have an inward curve along the length. Just along that bottom 3".

I suppose I can set the front fender next to it and see what the skin does. The quarter is flat along that area.

Joe,
I just went down into my garage, which is still over 100 degrees at 9:30pm and ran my hand along the lower 3 inches of the door. Went front to back and back to front and I think that it is flat all along. My door is in pretty good shape. How about posting some pics of yours?

Dont you just love body work? Been working on my front sheet metal alignment for a few months off and on.

Good Luck

Thanks Bob...
I gotta drag the pass. side door onto the bench as well and see what that one does. I can't remember when I stripped it.
I sure hope it's flat. ;)
