Can you clearcoat over vinyl stripes ?

The best thing to do is, get a sample of the vinyl material. Then have the painter clear it. It may work, it may not, depending on the brand of vinyl & the brand of clear coat. I make decals part-time as a hobby. I made several decals for a motorcycle that was raced at a local track, they cleared over fine. However, I have also made a flag to be cleared onto a bass guitar, and as soon as the clear hit it, it shriveled up into a ball. I used the same brand & grade material for both decals. So I am assuming that the brand of clear was the factor of why the flag failed.

Personaly, even though I sell decals, I would use a stencil avalible thru any camaro restoration book, and paint the stripes on!!
