Were fitting a Flowmaster exhaust and muffler to my son's 98 Camaro V6.
The pipes are on but when the mufflers in place with the tailpipes attached the pipes stick out by about 6" behind the rear bumper. Is this normal or are we missing something?

Yeah, they do that. As long they clear the rear end and don't contact the body or anything, just cut to fit.
I use one of those chain type pipe cutters with the rollers, but a hacksaw would also work.
Some guys add the chrome tip extensions.

Thanks
The tail pipes have the nice long chrome tips. Maybe I'll just take a short section out of the pipe and have it rewelded.

Just about to fit the muffler now that we have the correct hanging kit for a 98.
Its not obvious how this fits though. there are 3 pieces to the kit. Any one know of a site that shows pics of the hanging kit in place?

Hi DG
I'm just now installing Flowmaster 2 1/2" pipes and would like to know how much of your chrome tips cover the aluminized tailpipe ? I too wanted to know how far out from the body panel they are supposed to protrude.
Thanks in advance if you know
