We took our 69 z/28 to a car show yesterday and it rained and now it has water spots all over it. So today I washed it, polished it, and waxed it, and the spots are still there. Any ideas? Paint clay?
Thanks
Sam
P.S. It was our first car show and we had a blast. Won first place in our division, best GM car, and peoples choice.

How new is the paint? This happened to my buddies Camaro shortly after it was painted. He never did get them out unfortunately.

The paint is 5 years old and in great condition (besides the water spots  ). We had never planned on washing it or even getting it wet but what do you do when mother nature desides to let it rain? Soon we will be buying an enclosed car trailer so we don't have to worry about this.

PS: does anybody know of a good car trailer manufacturer. We are thinking about getting a Featherlite or a Haulmark but not sure.

Man you guys have some crud in the air is SD if you couldn't wash and polish the spots out... Get a clay bar and keep it wet as well as keep working the bar like putty. I usually cut a bar in half and use it half at a time.
What kind of wax was on the car before it rained? Almost sounds like just polish and no wax. After the clay bar get some Meguires, I use the cleaner wax in the red bottle.
My typical routine is clear coat body scrub by Meguires and then the cleaner wax. I clay bar no more than once a year and only if the surface doesn't feel real smooth after going over the car with clear coat body scrub.

First off...congrats on your success at the car show. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Must be a very nice car.
Second...Dennis is right, the clay bar should work if it was just rain. Hope it was waxed PRIOR to the rain. Otherwise you might need a good polish buff with a wheel. Good luck.

Ya, the air up here is pretty dusty and our tap water is pretty hard so washing doesn't really help much. I use mequires gold class wax and polish. I polish and wax every 3 months and I use meguires quick detailer every time we take the cover off. That clear coat body scrub sounds pretty good. I was going to buy some paint clay any ways because we have a few swirl marks in the paint. Thanks for the help.

hard water has calcium in it. calcium can be cut with phospheric acid. use a product called CLR in a very hidden spot or else on something else with spots besides your car. phospheric acid is also in COKE A COLA. it is safe to ingest but i wouldn't do a lot of it. in concentrated form it does make the skin tingle. removes rust too. and who says drinking too much pop is bad for you??

Took mine to a show in Quincy, IL on Sunday. Went all day with great weather. During the awards (3rd place with 11 in my class) it started raining and it rained all 140 miles home.
Going to wash it with Dawn dishwashing detergent, rinse it off using Mr. Clean, and then rewax it with one of my favorites - Eagle 1 or Mothers
Another show in Vandalia, MO on Saturday.
