I bought some door sills for my 67 from YearOne. I have no carpet in the car and plan to carpet it.
I will describe what I'm looking at:
Since the car used to be a race car, everything was taken out for weight savings. The carpet is gone and its bare metal on the floor. There are holes in the floor boards with plugs or plates of metal that obviously go in there. The plugs are glued down or something, except one. Its loose and when I pick it up, you can look through the hole right to the ground.
Should I glue that down or screw it down? and with what do you recommend?
OK, here's what else....
Where the door sill goes, just inboard of that is a metal rib that is about an inch or so tall and runs parallel with the door.
Is there something I'm missing here because the carpet doesn't lay flat with that rib there. I've felt the carpet in that area on Camaros that are finished and it feels like there is something more there. Like more metal laying over that rib.
What am I missing?
