View Full Version : Need Pics of 67/68's w/ No Front Bumper!!!!
jay'srs/ss Jul 27th, 06, 06:24 PM I took my front bumper off, since I was planning on re-chroming it. But it looks pretty good without it. I've seen it before in magazines and stuff like that. I was just wondering how you get to the hood latch, if you make a grill to cover the holes? It's a custom job for sure. Some pics and details would be awesome! Thanks :beers:

There's a pic of my 68 with RS front and no bumper on this thread:

Not the best picture, but you get the idea.
JimM Jul 27th, 06, 08:43 PM There are several pics on Mike Kelcy's no bumper 68 in the run to the rockies thread
DanW Jul 27th, 06, 08:48 PM This was covered a while back:

Brad74 Jul 28th, 06, 09:47 AM I am convinced I am going with no bumper on my 68. There is also one on the cover of this month's Chevy High Performance.
clwilcox33 Jul 28th, 06, 12:15 PM IMO, it looks unfinished, and it's unsafe.
mox67 Jul 28th, 06, 12:43 PM Ya just an FYI no front bumper is illegal in most states. It looks like you reside in california.
Considering california is the originator of most stupid car laws, im gonna guess its illegal there.

That looks killer! But how do you pop the hood? And how did you attach the grill pieces? Thanks! :beers:
clill Jul 28th, 06, 09:42 PM This work ?
ProdigyCustoms Jul 28th, 06, 11:58 PM Here is the front on Project Prodigy. Michael also welded the fender extensions for one piece fenders, if you eliminate the bumper, I think this needs to be done

Im putting the bumper back on after it repainted.
67_camaro Jul 29th, 06, 08:59 AM This is a shot of my hood latch, it's at the top of the grill. What I did to attach the lower grill was those little 1"x1" self sticky wire tie things but I used epoxy instead of the self sticky stuff. The grills are kitchen light covers. I then use a heat gun to bend them into shape then just strap them down. Done 4 this way now and it works great.

I would agree. Car looks to original to be without the bumper. Personally, I only think it works in modifieds.
Venom67 Jul 29th, 06, 09:47 AM just look at this post i started.... got more than enough photos of no bumper.

kmg1969ss Jul 29th, 06, 08:46 PM No bumpers makes it illegal ... Sure just give the "man" a reason to pull you over ... Hmmm, and you wonder what to do? ...
