I am switching from the factory green interior to a black interior. Can I replace the buckles and connectors, then die the belts black?

Looks like you have deluxe belts, nice!
I did a set of green belts last year and they came out very nice, using RIT dye in a bottle, just heated a pan with water on the stove to about 130*-140* added some dye and about 10-15 min later you should be all set, but you will also dye the date tags on the belt too. Rinse the belts in cool water after you dye them and this should get and residual dye from the belts.
1ST...Make sure you clean the belts with something like Simple green, or even Dish detergent and soak them for a couple of hrs or so and rinse well, and the cleaner they are, the better they will look. Clean as many of your buckles that you can, as they are expensive to buy repro. You should take the buckles off before you dye em', but you wont hurt them if you don't.
Hope this helps, if I can help you any further, let me know. DAVE.

I have not tried the dye yet, but there is instructions on how to make then colorfast (salt I think). The dye will dye the labels and the plastic coating on the hardware. I would not use the rusty hardware. Deluxe hardware requires the threads to be cut to remove. Then after dying, they need to be resewn on with the correct size thread and duplicate the pattern. Lots of work to redo belts correctly :)

Well I'm not afraid of work...I'll lay down right beside it and take a nap.

Seriously, it is more a cost thing right now, as I have plenty of time to work. Is it worth it to spend $350 (front/rear set)(Classic Industries) or $100 to replace a few parts and get some dye. The extra $250 may not seem like a lot, but I have a lot to get done so every nickel counts.

Thoughts -

PS. I also noticed in the classic industries catalog that they do not offer deluxe buckle covers, only the standard black. Any where to get the deluxe like mine or is there a way to remove the rust and make it pretty again?
