I am in the process of getting this 1969 Camaro SS back on the road ... Before I fire it up, I am replacing missing or tired grounding straps for the body to frame, firewall, engine .... I have found the location of three out of the four straps .... The after market "ground strap" kit doesn't get explicit enough for me to find where the fourth one would be installed ( I should be able to find some holes nearby the general location of the suggested install locatioin) .... Anyways a little help with the final location ???? ... I have presently ... 1) One from the firewalll to the passenger's side valve cover ... 2) Then the opposite side (driver's) to the valve cover ... 3) Then passenger's side frame to firewall (crawl under the car) ....4) Where does the fourth one (frame to innner fender skirt) front area of inner fender? ... Should be some holes .... A little help ... kmg69ss

Don't let the straps stop you from firing your engine or driving the car. They are noise suppression only for the radio. Make sure you have a grd from the batt to the fender and the grd cable is terminited in the right place and you are good to go.

Check the AIM for the radio rpo to see where the braided straps go. The AIM will also show you where the grd from teh batt goes... AIM = Factory Assembly Instruction Manual

If it is the one under the battery box, it is hard to decipher from the AIM. I had to see one on a car to place mine. If that is the one I may be able to snap a picture.

Welcome to the site, by the way. Please edit your profile so that we can see a little more about you. How did you rate getting DJD to answer your first question?

Here you go. I saw one on a car, but did not take measurements.

Maybe John Z will pipe up in this one but the AIM only shows 4 straps. I believe the repro kits come with 5 but maybe that is because the AIM shows the I6 valve cover strap on the same page with the two lower frame straps. Check out RPO U63 Sheet A6, it shows the two valve cover straps and A7 shows the frame.

1969 come with 4 straps. 2 valve cover, 1 frame to firewall below heater box and the one under the battery. There was a thread a few months back on this. A quick search turned up confusing info. I did find that the one under the battery may have been a mid-year change. Hope John Z can clear this up. I did locate mine from what appeared to be an original car. The straps looked old.

One thing I did not find and have not been able to get an answer about is the coil radio suppressor.. The suppressor does not show up in the AIM for the coil.

Thanks to the both of you Gary L and DjD ... The after market kit does come with 4 straps ... It was that missing under the battery tray strap that was eluding me ... I hope I can decipher the picture enough to get it on the car (in a stock and proper location of course) ...

Try to find a car at a show with that strap. Then install it.
