In order to get my 67 SS350 ready for meadia blasting, the entire heater box and firewall cover was removed by an employee at my friend's body shop. The front fenders had already been removed before hand. My first question is can the firewall cover be easily re-installed later with the fenders on the car? I'm guessing not because it looks like it goes quite a bit up under the passenger side fender. Can I just install the firewall cover now then the under-dash heater box later after the car comes back from paint? Just want to make sure that it gets re-installed correctly before the front end is re-assembled. Are gaskets needed for the firewall cover? Any tips or advice on this subject would be appreciated.

You should be able to put the firewall box on first. Use strip caulk (dum dum) around the lip of the box and push it into the firewall. Then, over to the left where the blower motor goes through the firewall there are two screws that go in. (By the way put the blower motor on at this point also.) Install those two screws, then put a couple of other nuts and bolts in to temporarily hold the box in on the right side. When you get ready to install the inside heater box install your seals, take the two bolts and nuts out (that you put in to temporarily hold the right side of the box), slide the inside heater boxes threaded studs through from the inside and tighten them up. You should be good to go. Hope this helps!!

does any one have an assembly picture (exploded view) of the heater box assembly?

I pulled my A/C box out of my 67, and I want to restore it to an A/C free car...then install vintage air or the "complete under dash" variety of aftermarket systems...
