I have a early 69 camaro without headrest's. I was told it was a option for 67 and 68 camaros and if it was a early production 69, before it became standard. My question is if it was an option, did the cars have the hardware installed and just not the actual headrest? Is it just part of the seat back? I can't find components to have one in any catalogs. I just see the actual headrest.

my (10a of 68 built) 69 camaro has the headrest. i dont know if it was an option or not for early 69 cars but i think it was standard on all 69 camaros

Headrests were a mandatory option until January, 1969, when they became included with all cars. There was a "Headrest Delete kit" (option AR1) that was available for dealers if a customer complained of the price (I believe around $50.00). 335 buyers opted for the delete kit, so no headrests in a 69 is very rare! If your car is one of the 335, leave it alone!!
