What is the deal with the aftermarket front and rear springs. They all set up higher than the assembly manual says. This car I am working on is sitting at 28" to the "lip", both back and front. At least it is level!
I have 350 no ac in a 350 no ac and the standard 5 leaf for a SS in the back and 26" tires. I go to super Chevy and the cars with new springs also sit up to high. Give me some feedback, guys. Bruce

I have a brand new big block suspension with 5 leaf rear springs (Eaton Springs) and new big block front springs along with complete set of KYB shocks. The ground clearance on BOTH front and back is an even 10 inches. This is using 235/60-15 front tires and 255/60-15 rear tires. The distance I measured was directly behind the front wheels and directly in front of the rear wheels. I does sit higher than it did previously before the new suspension but I am happy with it. The springs used were manufactured by the same people the OEM'ed them to GM to begin with so I pretty sure there right on as far as height is concerned.

Expect your suspension to settle some over time, how much it will settle is the big question. The problem you are encountering would drive me crazy. The best solution is to cut some coils in the front and either de-arch the rear leafs or use lowering blocks. Good luck.

It's going to sag some. I've had mine on the ground for about a year and it has sagged 3/4".

I have the same question. Everyone tells me I need new springs because my car sits low. But a lot of the Camaros I see look kind of funny to me. They look way too high. I wasn't around, but did they sit that high new?

Yes,Chris they did set that high. Ground clearances have come down dramatically over the last 30 years. The only exception I can see was the Vette whick always seemed pretty low to the ground to me!!
Steve,
I agree with your position but if you want that OEM look, it for sure is not going to be low!!!

If you like it low, or high build it the way you like it. Even if "stock" would be higher, if you don't like it don't subject yourself to that look. Conversely if you like your car a little higher than what is popular for all means do it that way too.
