: 67 or 68 RS Parts
AUTODR Dec 6th, 00, 09:42 AM Ordering parts to start rebuild - after looking over my headlamps I found most of the parts need replacement. Now for the big question, since originality is not that important to me, given a choice which would you put on the car, 67 or 68 headlamp setup? Thinking of buying the whole setup new from Classic Industries.

68SS396 Dec 6th, 00, 09:58 AM If the 68 vacuum actuators actually lasted I would say 68 but 67 is electric and I hear good things about the repro 67 electric motors compared to the 68 vacuum actuators. I am getting the 68 repro actuators for xmas and am hoping for the best but I am totally terrified
CA420 Dec 6th, 00, 11:07 AM Electric can burn up if they jam on something and you cannot open them manually like the vacuum. Vacuum actuators are supposed to have been retooled but always check them before waisting time installing them.If you go with the vacuum I highly recommend buying a hand vacuum pump this will enable you to test the parts and hoses to make sure they are functioning properly.

stevo camaro Dec 6th, 00, 03:40 PM One more thing to consider. How clean do you want it to look under the hood. With the 68 there are vac lines everywhere and cannisters and all kinds of other crap all over the engine compartment. With the 67 set-up it's just a little more wiring, alot cleaner install, barely noticable under the hood with the 67. Just food for thought. Now I'm really gonna hear it from the 68 guy's http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif Don't hurt me too bad! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif LMAO 67's RULE!!!! LOL

68SS396 Dec 7th, 00, 02:33 AM I don't mind complication. I want nothing under the hood of a new car but always wanted a 68 or 69 RS conv with a BB and AC just for all the confusion. I'm a freak
67rs327 Dec 7th, 00, 04:45 PM I own a 67 rs that the original electric doors still work ???? yes they still work and have not been changed I realy like them but as someone already said the can stick and burn up , mine are hooked to a manual switch that you push to open pull to close it looks like this was done many years ago and is probably why mine are not burned up I had a 69 rs my guess with the kit is go with the 67 style electric .

Actually, the new repro electric motors can be opened manually. (ask me how I know http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif ) They don't strip out like the older style. The gears turn just fine.
