Surprised this isn't up here yet, but Super Chevy will be at RT66 Speedway, Joliet, IL on Aug. 11, 12, & 13.

Judged show & show n shine, with all the fixins including some fun at the dragstrip.

This is one of the coolest strips ever, if you haven't seen it. Huge grandstands in a horseshoe around thestarting line and halfway up the track, staging lanes come in under the grandstand. The sound of a fuel car in that fishbowl will blow your mind.

I'll be going with Jason from Hinkley, and anyone else who wants to join us, probably on Saturday, not sure, not sure if going to judged or non, probably non.

Will have the Team Camaro Banner displayed, if we get a count we can try ho hook up and park together, otherwise come visit the blue vert under the banner!

I'll be back with the event and day I'll be there after I here form Jason again.

I haven't changed my residence yet Jim, where is Hinkley anyway?:D

And it's even cooler driving under the timing tower into the staging lanes and looking down the track. I agree its a great track to watch the racing!

Jim, my friends at Tchevelle, have said they group em by year and model (judged or not) They have also said if your not in line before about 7:45 AM; well then your in line for a LOOOONNNNNGGG Time!!!!! Which means I'm leaving (if I can get my car back together; long story) @ 6 to come to you. If it's too early for you please let me know I can just meet you there then; unfortunately I don't have a clutch back on my car yet and the damn flex flattening causes it to overheat when sitting for any period so I can't afford to sit in line for any long period. Also check out a similar thread over there regarding who's going from the chevelle side. JN

I'll be up and ready to roll by 6:30 Jason.
Hope we beat the crowds thru the gate.

I talked to dz fool, he's gonna come later, gave him my cel and told him to look for the banner.

Anyone else comes out, look for the TC banner behind a lemans blue 68 vert.

On my way over to big brothers across the hall to read whats there.

Let us know how the show is. I haven't been to a Super Chevy show in a few years. The only problem is Madison Classics has the swap/show in Elkhorn the first weekend of the month, and it's hard for me to get every weekend of the month off.:( Although even though Sat. was good this year at Elkhorn Sun. was a flop. Maybe next year I'll go to Joliet instead. Only 2 hrs and 86 mile from Mapquest.;)

Jim, Great to meet you and yours. I had a great time, and hope you did too. Thanks for being a brother on only our first meeting, and for your hospitality. I haven't had that much fun in a long while, especially running so many cars off the road, :D and very much look forward to doing it again SOON!!!!!!!!! Jason.

Didn't take you long to get on here, Jason!

Yes, ideed, we had a good time. The show itself was just ok, but there were some nice cars and good people to talk to. The drag racing was a blast to watch, I'd forgotten how loud a jet car was.

Didn't see any fellow Team Camaro types except for Jason, who's really a chevelle type. Did meet up with some Team Chevelle guys tho.

I'm not aware of any ditched cars, and every time I passed, the line was striped. Never left 5th gear either so it couldn't have been too traumatic.

Also not buying that your ss396 was breaking up at the top of second, while I was pulling away at the speed of sound. (hehe)

The dragstrip is calling me now...lol. It's too damned bad I'd have to shut down at the eigth or settle for one good run in my vert :(

OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!They'll throw me off the track after 2 under 13.99 too buddy. We'll see who's in first at the end from a stand still:waving: How's the pizza?:D I'll admit you had me on the grade, no biggy......next time I won't be coasting;) lol. At the very least you earned a good dunking in your own pool:D. I think I'll be needing a new spindle.

new spindle? ouch! Wish we'da checked it here in the AM, mighta controlled the damaged!

and that 13.99 rule for verts is comepletely bogus. Been 25 years since I ran a vert on the strip, but back then it was 12 flat.

agreed, with the 13.99 crap that is; don't think we could have done much to save the spindle though. If we run at Byron, I don't think they'll tech us too hard.

Yea well those of us with coupes aren't much better off without a cage. I got warned 2 weeks ago if I dropped below 12 flat I would need a roll bar and fire jacket. I need to get a new IHRA rule book. My '05 book says a cage at 10.99 or better and 11.5 or better for the jacket. I guess that just means I don't need spray now seen as how I couldn't really use it. I was going to try to get my street car to dip into the 10.XX's just to say I had a 10 sec car but.:(

So the show wasn't that great? Very many first gens? How was the swap meet?

The bulk of the 1st gens showed up after 10AM 30-40 of them I would guess, more drag cars than show though. lol. the swap kind of sucked IMHO anything that was any good was way overpriced. Elkhorn was MUCH, MUCH better; besides the good company, and the racing you didn't miss much. JN

Where you up at Elkhorn? Sunday was a flop. We left at 10am. Although most vendors packed up Saturday afternoon.

Saturday only, rain obviously on Sunday. Was there from 7 to 1230 roughly, just swapped though I had a b-day party I had to get home early to take the little ones to. I didn't look at a single displayed show car.
Iola was a flop, Jefferson was surprisingly good this spring, aside from all the dust, skipped Waukesha, and am looking forward to Sept. Elky was a really good swap this time around. JN

I agree with spring Jefferson being a good show. But I liked Iola Fri/Sat didn't stay for Sunday. Honestly I was disappointed with the swap at Elkhorn this year. If I didn't have a space I probably would have only been there for about 2 hours at most. Fall Jefferson is just around the corner. The sad thing is I haven't been able to make it to any of the locale cruises this year for one reason or another. :(

40? Are you trying to gather sympathy from these fine upstanding citizens:D By my clock the morning commute was more like 15 minutes:thumbsup: . Just giving credit where credit is due, Jim knew all the short cuts.
Harley, seriously 2 1/2 hour round trip.....to spend time in some very good company, driving classic cars like we were in the movie " 2 fast 2 furious " or "gone in sixty seconds". The time spent was priceless!!!!

yer jus gonna keep that up ain't ya Jason... Those were totally normal speeds for country 2 lanes around here (at least with an overdrive 383!) It mighta been a bit less than 40 minutes tho. It is a 40 minute drive in my truck!

It was just the two of us Jim. Who was going to take the picture? We were hard pressed to find anybody nice enough to trust with Jim's camera.

I do have some pics of our cars posing in front of the Team Camaro banner, and also some nice shots of a hugger orange copo clone, I'll get around to posting them soon.
