Hello everyone,
I have a 1967 Inline 6 250. and I'm replacing the front end suspension and have a couple of questions. I tried ordering Moog 6308 springs and was told that these are heavy duty springs and will not work on my Inline 6 in this true? That the front of my car will sit too high if I use these springs. I have read many forums topics and it seems that this is what everyones using. Also has anyone used Monroe Sensa-a-Trac shocks? Or should I just spend the extra $$ and get the KY Gas-a-Just shocks?

the springs for the six are not as stiff as if you were going to go with small block springs so your six would not make the small block springs sag as much probably making the front end height higher. i am putting a 383 in my six cyl 67 so i had to buy small block springs and ditch my stock ones.

Not true. Just because they are "6 cylinder springs" doesn't mean they are not as stiff. Actually, the reason a lot of the small block guys run the 6308 is because they have the same rate (380 lb/in) as the stiffer "small block" springs, with a little less "free height" (14.98 inches) vs. the SB springs (15.29 inches for the equivalent rate 6320). These are both stiffer than the "base" springs for each application, typically 327 lb/in.
As for how a 6 cyl will sit with 6308s, it's just as hard to say for the 6 cyl cars as it is for the V8 cars. If you read through all the posts you get when you search "coil spring" here, you'll see that the OE replacement springs generally seem to sit higher than expected, some of which is because we are replacing 30 plus year old, tired springs with new ones. So what I'm saying is that regardless of HD or low rate springs, your car may sit too high.
Depending on your goals, you may want to go with something like the Eibach Pro Kit springs. They are a little stiffer yet, at 502 lb/in, but because they are advertised as a 1" drop spring for SB applications, they might be just what you're after for your 6. I had them on my 68 SB car, and I think if I had stayed with rubber bushings instead of poly, the springs would have been perfect.
As far as shocks, if you search "monroe" here, you'll see a lot of guys like the Sensatracs as a moderate priced shock. A lot of folks think the plain KYBs are better (less harsh) than the Gas-a-justs. Again, it all depends on what your goals are.

Eric do you have a pic of how your 68 sat with the Eibachs?

There's a lousy shot in this thread

I have better, but they are old school non-digital photos, so I'll have to scan and post next week.

6308 is a 69 6 cyl coil for heavy duty use. When used on a small block application it lowers the car to aprox where a stock sagging spring would be, which is where most guys want their car heights. The advantage is, it's a bit stiffer at 380 than stock 325 lb springs.
The 6 is almost as heavy as a V8 so I don't think it will be too tall for you, if it is, you can trim it's length a bit to suit your needs.
My Moog catalog is pretty old and doesn't show a coil for 1967 with 6 cyl except for convertable use.
All other coils for 67 std v8 use are the 6310.
6310
free ht 16.118
rate 328
load 1928
loaded ht 10.25
6308
free ht 14.09
rate 380
load 1607
loaded height 10.75
You can see that 6308 has a much lighter load and only has a .5" taller installed (loaded) height. With anywhere near an equal load it's going to result in a lower front height.
Most V8 SB camaros weigh between 1920 and 1980 lbs on the front wheels. Perhaps you can weigh your car's front end and compare.

The old wore out coils I remove measured 15.5 and the new moog 6308 are 15. Will that make a big difference in the height of my car. Do I also have to take into account that these are 40 years old springs?

The 6308 is a stiffer coil but shorter so there is a bit of guesswork involved. If your front weight is similar to a small block weight, it should sit very nice on the 6308 coils, lower than the "proper" replacement moog coil but closer to the old sagging coil. The stiffer rate will still ride very nice but the front will be a bit more stable.
6308 is a 6 cyl spring, just heavy duty so it should be very close in ride height to stock, perhaps you may have to trim it to get the ride height perfect but don't do anything for a couple of months after you install it. The springs will settle a bit. The extra spring rate is worth the trouble in my opinion.
