Can someone explain wheel opening molding part numbers for the 1967 and 1968 Camaro and Firebird? I understand there were different lengths depending on rocker trim, but I need part number vs applications.

Here's the numbers I have found, I've got a complete 68 RS set sitting in the garage, took me 6 months to track them all down, the 7995064 molding is rarer then Hen's teeth, I just can't make up my mind whether to put them on or not, since I'm considering selling the car now anyway......:sad:

Part#:
7995064 = LH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1968
7995063 = RH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1968
9785880 = RH front wheelhouse moulding - 1967~68*
9785881 = LH front wheelhouse moulding - 1967~68*
4229493 = RH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1967
* = part number is the same for both years, they can be used on all 1967 with RS or with RPO-Z21 Exterior Style Trim Option and on 1968 with RPO-Z21 Style Trim - they will require trimming of bottom section to match up with original mouldings if used on a 1968 with RS trim.

1968 rear wheelhouse mouldings are shorter than 1967.

The #4229493 is a 1967 only rear wheelhouse moulding and would require trimming to fit a 1968.

1968

The original '68 firebird rear molding has a crimp 4" from the front edge that helps it follow the quarter panel. The 7795063/4 moldings I have seem to be to be too short. I guess the rocker molding is different between the 68 bird and the 68 Camaro. The Firebird rocker trim is 4" tall and runs the length of the rocker. I thought the RS rocker trim was shorter, but I never paid much attention.

Is the 67 molding number 4229493/4 crimped 4" from the front edge and longer than the other years? Is that the correct part for '68 Firebird?

Here's a photo of the area I'm questioning.

Thanks for all the help; hopefully I can get this sorted out.

I can't speak for the Firebirds, but as for the Camaros, the difference in length (a foot?) on the 063/064 moldings are due to the wide RS moldings that go along the bottom side of the 68 RS car, if you try to use a non RS molding 4229493 or 4229494, you will have interference issues. These other moldings (493/494) can be "trimmed" to work on a car with the RS moldings, but obviously, you can't "add" length to the 063/064 moldings to fit on a 67 or 68 Non-RS car........KZ

It looks like what I need are 4229493, 4229494. Anyone have a set they would like to part with?
