Hey guys,

I am going to replace my body bushings tomorrow AM on my 80 Z 28. I checked the alignement holes and they are slightly off(this is before I have started anything)

Is this going to be a problem for me when I change out the bushings and have to readjust the frame.

ANy advice or experience with this would be appreciated.

thanks

PS The car also has subframe connectors and I have a problem with one of the nuts free spinning

I would line the frame back up with the alignment holes after replacing the bushings and then take a lot of straight and cross measurements to ensure the frame is straight. If the frame is straight and it's still not lined up straight to the body with the holes lined up, then you can adjust it from there. If the body and the frame aren't tweaked, the holes "should" be spot on, but there is fortunately room for adjustment. You'll either have to use a sawzall or a torch or a nut splitter on that spinning nut.

And please realize that back then GM thought, +/- a 1/2" was fine!!

My car has ALWAYS " fingered" like a finger and a bit more in front and almost 2 "fingers" to my pass. side since new!

"Fingering"!! Just run your fingers up between the top middle of the wheelwell lips and the top tire roll on each side and you will feel with your fingers how much she is shifted, side to side!

I have done this for years to cars at car shows to verify that mine is OK! You will see what I mean if/when you do it a couple of times to several cars!!

PS., and I again "fingered" my S/F mount alignment dowl-pin holes and it is spot on!! Plus tweeked my rear over using the built-in slop that's available to use back there at the front spring mounts!!
