U.S.RS/SS

Hello to all, and I truly appreciate any response and or comments that can help lead me thru a pretty large project that I am about to embark upon. Anyway with that being said, I have a 67 RS/SS Camaro with the original 350 cid, Powerglide auto, and 12 bolt (373). Air, Power steering, and Power brakes. Recently I have noticed a little oil burning from the old 350 so I have determined it's finally time to play a little. Smiling I look forward to what is about to take place, but at the same time, I'm a little nervous and definitely cautious. You seem to hear so many horror stories from guy's having there dreams crapped on by lousy mechanics, and from other parts dealers, but with a little research, and some help from wonderful forums like this one, maybe one can at least reduce the chances of that. Anyway here is what I'm doing:
Engine re-build with some slight performance mods that will still maintain esthetics, and originality, like porting the double hump heads, Porting the intake, adding a slightly over stock cam, and maybe a set of those doug thorley headers. Realistically probably somewhere around 350Hp up from 295Hp. And before I run the risk of sounding like I'm in the wrong forum here is what I would like some input on. I have purchased the Tremec 600 stick conversion kit from Jeff with Classic Chevy, which by the way I have been wanting to do for a long long time. It's sounds like it will be a huge upgrade, along with allot of great fun, and I can still maintain the look of stock. Jeff did a great job in answering questions, and gave me tons of info so as to start me in the right direction, in fact I will let a local Classic Camaro Mechanic that just works on 1st Gen Camaro's do the install. I live in Kansas City, so if he does well I'll let everyone who live's close by know. Finally here is my main question. As you know, Jeff (with Classic) has a pretty much complete conversion kit for these cars, but he had stated that I could get the clutch petals, and linkage from an after market dealer myself and save a couple of bucks in doing so, but with my past experience with aftermarket stuff, I have found that about half of it is total junk and almost a joke. None of the Venders state the manufactures name, and or as to where the clutch and linkage is made. No real info from what I can tell. Usually when that happens it's for a reason. Obviously, like most of you, I don't really like playing that gamble game with Rick's, or Year One ,or any of the others for that matter, that stuff just realy pisses me off, and is a huge waist of time. So does anyone have any experience with after market linkage, and petals, for there Camaro, or have any suggestions on some real quality. I'm probably a little overly anal, and definitely picky, but I am willing to pay a little more for good solid quality. There's nothing like the feeling you get when cruising around town with the feeling of reliable quality, and performance at your finger tips. Or should I say toes in this case.
And again thanks for any info.
