Has anyone found any info on installing a muncie into a 3rd gen yet? I have found that SPOHN makes a torque arm/ crossmember kit to do it ($395.00) I would rather fab it myself, if anyone has done it before I'm all ears. Thanks Tom.

You would be better off stuffing a 4th gen 6spd in there, it might actually fit without all of the cost of coming up with a trans mount/torque arm. This is of course you are not building a drag car. If you are then a Turbo 400 would probably be better for more consistent launches and less breakage. Problem with a muncie is they don't have any provisions for the torque arm to mount too. Besides 4th gear is only 1:1 in a muncie. With a T56 6spd, the last two gears are overdrive, thus giving you a lot better mileage. The 1st gear is steeper too giving you a better launch. If the the T56 is too pricey, I am sure could find a 5spd out of third gen for cheap, but they do not last if you have a motor that is significantly stronger than stock.
