: how do i remove axle?????

i have a 67 with a non posi 10 bolt (will change that later! huh....) anyways i just got my disk brake conversion kit and in order to do what i need to do i have to pull the axles. i took the diff cover off now what?? thanx for any help i have to learn alot of this stuff on my own so sometimes it's a little slow. Rich

You will see a 3/4 inch shaft (might be 5/8 on this rear end) running through the center of the differential with 2 gears on it. There is a bolt that goes in from the side with a 1/2 inch head on it. Remove that bolt and the shaft will come out. Push the axle in and remove the c clip that is on the end of it. Then you can pull the axle out. Be carefull not to turn the gears inside the differential (there are 4 of them) because you will get them out of alignment. If you do then you might have a hard time getting them back in place with the thrust washers behind them. I recommend putting the shaft back in place until you are ready to install the axles again.

well i got the new rear discs on wow theyre shnazzy. thanks again for the help it was actually really easy. thanx again, Rich
