I was thinking of putting a standard trans in my 69 this winter. It has an auto right now.My question is other than the linkage/pedals,can a 5 speed from a mid 80's camaro bolt in place to my 327 with little hassle?

Some guys went to the Tremac trans.. Classic transmissions may have a good kit for you. You will need pedals, clutch and linkage as well as bellhousing and flywheel in either case. pdq67 Aug 6th, 06, 11:17 AM All of the stock 5-speeds are way too weak b/c if you check, NONE were ever installed behind any motor bigger than the little 305 back then. I figure a stock 5-speed would be a dandy behind a 195 and 220hp/283 and 200hp/307 and probably marginal at best behind a decent powered 327 motor, imho.. Not for a 350 that just may hook up good b/c one will probably shell in a heartbeat... Same deal here with the Sag. 4-speed trannies. TOO weak!! pdq67 |
