I'm about to install the chrome trim that goes right under the top, in the door and quarter panel opening. This trim holds the upper weather striping in place. My question is, what type of sealer or glue it's better for that application? I noticed it has left some black material around 1/16" thick. Thanks in advance for your input on this.

If there is an automotive paint store near you, they will probably have some 3M adhesives designed to do just what you want to do.
