So, many of you know that i just got my car back from the body shop. Car is primered and perfectly straigt! I was planning on putting the engine and tranny in, and a few years from now, pull it all out and paint the car as i dont have the money to do it now. In any event, i was very excited to put the engine and tranny in. I had just repalced all fenders, doors, quarters.

so, i borrow an engine hoist from a buddy on sunday....i note that i am missing a pin for one of the legs. I call him, he cant find it, so i figure i deal with it tomorrow (monday).

So, myself and 2 buddies get to the car, one of them notes that a pin is missing in the leg of the hoist....

we walk over to the engine on the engine stand,
start to hook up the chains. The hoist is holding the engine, so we take it off of the stand, keep jacking it.

then....kaboom. the leg without the pin collapeses onto my BRAND NEW PERFECTLY STRAIGT FENDER! The enine is fine other than the BRAND NEW fuel pump i put on the night before.

Lesson: Like dad always said, do the job right the first time.

We we all so excited to get started, we missed one detail. A major one.

the lucky thing is that nobody got hurt and i have the car primer not in paint!

Sucked though.

That sucks. I always try to look on the bright side - Like you said, it didn't land on anybodys leg or worse. Car body parts can be fixed easier than human body parts.

Not sure if that helps or not, but its a theory I always try to use when something happens... it could always be worse.
