After a long and unsucessful fight with upgrading/modifying my TBI, I'm switching back to a simple carb. I'm using a Weiand 8004 intake and an AFB (Edelbrock Performer) 600 cfm carb. I'm going to have to go with a small body distributor, as regular coil-in-cap HEI dizzy will not fit under the cowl, in the Caprice body. I'm currently running a 69 350 block with the "modern" upper half components, including heads and TBI stuff. The summit 1103 cam already has the fuel pump eccentric, so it's no big deal to bolt on the regular style mechanical pump.
My question is to others, who may have done a similar conversion. In the Fact. Serv. Manual, it shows the TBI fuel return line, flowing back to the tank and discharging to the floor of the plastic gas tank. I'm thinking about disconnecting the regular electric pump and using the return line as a feed for the mech. pump. Even though the stock pump works, it has too much pressure for a carb and I don't have the cash to go buy a regulator and gauge. Will this work? Thanks for your input, Mike
