I just got a Lares 972 PS box for my 68 SS I have all new steering linkage and everything is suspension is new. Question is I have short steering arms 519 and 520 and I have a short pitman arm I was wondering if I should go with the Longer Pitman Arm. The reason I ask is that I had a 2.3 quick ratio box on it a stock one from a 69 Camaro that had no road feel and at high speeds if you touched the wheel you were all over the road. I had everything centered and correct toe in set but it was the worse steering I ever had in a car. I went with the Lares 972 because it is quick ratio with Road Feel and am going to use the short pitman arm and see how it handles then if needed I will go with a Moog long one. I am going to install box today Any thoughts on this?

I have short arms and a short pitman arm on mine with a quick ratio box out of a late model camaro. Love the feel. Drives good. Steers good. I also went with tubular a arms and the aggressive alignment specs. Car is a little twitchy at high speed. Long trips at 70 mph may not be enjoyable, but that thing handles and steers like it is on rails.

Try the short pitman, I think you will be happy with it.

I got stock suspension except for all new parts and Hotchkis Springs and sway bar and all urethane bushings. May do the Guldstrand Mod next
