: Matador Red Color Code RR-Modern Day Code
Ken Miele Jul 28th, 01, 03:35 AM I am getting ready to paint my 68 in Matador red color code RR.
Does anyone out there know the modern day number code for this paint? I have not been able to get a swatch/sample other than this site and I would like to be able to get the modern day paint code so my body guy can spray a sample hood for me. This way I can determine if I truly like the color.
Thanks.
Ken
KevinW Jul 28th, 01, 03:52 AM Ken, Austin is the paint guy here! I found an old post of his that lists the PPG code of Matador red. Hopefully your body man can get it. Otherwise, he might be able to cross reference the PPG number with the brand he uses.

Austin, do you have other brands paint codes?
Ken, next time you are home and are going to look at your car, let me know, I'd like to tag along.
Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, I will be flying back Wednesday evening and plan to see the body guy Saturday morning. If you can come to my home around 9:45 a.m. we can then arrive there at 10:00 a.m. as he closes at noon on Saturday's.
Also I assume the choice of stripes for my car will be either black or white. I go back and forth between the two.
Best regards,
Ken
KevinW Jul 29th, 01, 03:13 AM Ken, I am free on Sat morn. Email me directions to your place and I will meet you there.
Originally, 68s with black vinyl tops got black, otherwise white stripes. Kevin

Austin Jul 29th, 01, 07:21 PM Matador red RR = PPG #71634 if you want a # for a differant brand let me know, my jobber can cross referance it for me. My shop uses PPG only, so these are the only #'s I have without a phone call. Let me know.

Speis Hecker is the paint being used. In the event the body guy has a problem and if you have the cross reference so at least I can ensure he used the correct code it would be appreciated.

Austin Jul 30th, 01, 05:47 PM I'll look into it, and post what I find out.

Thanks Austin. My body guy is painting an old hood he has with stripes so I can see how I like the color of Matador Red.
Thanks again.
