Stripping down the rear end and trunk area, got the bumper off, unplugged the wiring harness, twisted the rear light bulbs out of their respective bezels, unscrewed all 5 speed nuts and the reflective housing came off without a fight.
The tail lamp lense remains firmly in place and with a little nudging, I still can't tell how it comes off.
Can someone tell me how to remove the tail light lense from the tail panel?
Could it be another use for the BFH? http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/smash.gif

Once the housing is off, there is nothing holding the lens in place, except the gasket. It's probably been on so long it is just stuck to the inside of the tail panel.
I'd try to push against the lens from the outside. Be careful to push evenly, as the lens is very susseptable to breaking at the vertical partitions. If the lenses are in good condition, I'd make a plywood pattern to push against, to reduce the chance of breaking the lens.

Our slight pressure from behind with a plastic puddy knife between the gasket and the taipan, that should loosen the bugger away from the tailpain... good luck Mike

Thanks! You were right, it just needed some persuasion.
I've got 2 "kwik" questions...
1. The stainless trim that is on the outer side of the red tail lenses; what is the best adhesive to use to re-attach it to the tail light lense? (I had to remove mine to tap out a ding)
2. The tail light wiring harness has a couple of plastic 'push-in' attachment clips that seem to be well seated. I've tried using a small pair or needle-nosed pliers to get a good grip to remove them by pulling straight out from what appears to be the way they went in, but they seem firmly embedded. What's the key to removing these attachment clips (in tact; I'de like to re-use them if I can) from their holes?

A. I would just use a clear silicon type adhesive. easy to apply, tough to remove and will dry clear.

A. they are regular spit type push in plastic do-hickeys like on your other harnesses. To be really safe you have to get to the other side and squeeze the tabs with a needle-nose and gently pull it through. If you can't get to the back, just pull hard and hope for the best. Replacments are available from the parts houses.
