A guy I know has found a 69 Z/28 sitting beside a barn on a farm that was recently sold here in Md. He removed the cowl tag and showed it to me (X77 D80) He said the engine was not in the car but has the full interior. What if any info can we get from the vin# ? (12437QN709440)
Thanks for any info.

Can't be a "Q" in the VIN. Look again. It should be "9". If it is a "9" the car is a 1969 V8 Camaro coupe. One of the last 1969's built. X77D80 is Z/28 without styletrim and with spoiler option.

"He removed the cowl tag..."
Oh No!!! No matter what now, it will always be a clone! Hehe, just kidding. Is it restorable?

Ugh, you should never remove an original cowl tag... :(

I asked why he removed the tag and he was afraid someone would have stolen it and the vin plate. The car has been there for years and the property has changed owners a few times and no one knows who owns the car.
The new owner is going to develop the property and wants the cars on the property disposed of (there is also another 307ci 69 there and numerous engine blocks in the barn) My friend wants to research and try to find the owner history and possibly take possession of the car if it's not stolen. He says it is restorable.

Is this going to end up being another one of those stories i end up jealous and upset saying "why couldnt that be me??!!" True enough, based on the VIN that car must have rolled down the line in the last week or two of production for model year 69.
