Hello All,

Unfortunately it's going to cost almost as much to replace the spool in my 12 bolt along with welding in new housing ends, c clip elimniators and maybe the axles (since the axles are made to fit the c-clip eliminators) as it would to get a stock 12 bolt posi.. I am going to upgrade to the Moser 12 bolt.

My question is since this will be a street car w/ 4:11 gears should I go with the Detroit Locker or Detroit True-Trac?

Word is the True-Trac is the new hot thing. I hear it acts like an open rear end when driving on the highway and transfers torque via a patented gear system when you need a posi and or spool. This is a street car with a small block (350) with maybe 375 horsepower. The car currently has a spool and I don't like it around turns. That's why I am getting rid of it. The trans in the car now is a T-10 4 speed. Eventually this car will have a big block with about 600 Horsepower. Should I go locker or true-trac?

Some guys have said with serious horsepower said to go locker others said 600 HP is still fine for the street and a true-trac is better for the street. Like I said the spool in it now has gotta go. I could care less if the car is quiet. After all this is a 1969 Camaro not a 2007 $85,000 Lexus. Mercedes. BMW, or a $300,000 Rolls Royce/Bentley. Ok is it locker or true-trac??

The Locker is better for drag racing, the Truetrac is better for curves. I think the Eaton is best all around for street/strip. The Locker will make some noise on the street, more with a manual transmission. Send me an email for information on the Moser.
