Hi -

I am in search of a front driver's side seat latch for a 1968 Camaro- the piece that is bolted to the lower half of the seat in which the top half latches into when the seat is pushed back.
This is the metal piece you see with a loop on it when the seat is folded forward.

I have searched all over trying to find this - from Ricks to Classic Industries and the local classic camaro supply store.

Does anyone know where I may be able to locate this piece?

Thanks for all of your help!!

Matt

I thin k I may have a couple of extras. I think left and right are different. Tell me what you need, and I'll take a look.

This is the part you are looking for, I got this picture from someone here when I was looking for a set. I ended up having to spend 100 dollars on a set of seats to steal these loops, a couple people here said they had some extras but didn't come through in time, hopefully you have better luck. Gonna try to sell the rest of the 68 seats to recoup some of the cost. I also heard that someone was selling a replacement seat, not sure who but maybe they will sell just the loop. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

That is exactly it!!!

I am looking for the driver's side. I am surprised it is so difficult to find, since it seems that a lot of GM cars should be similar in parts like these.

If you could find the driver's side, I would be interested in possibly acquiring it from you.

Thanks,

Matt

I actually don't have any extra's, like I said before I had to buy a set of seats. Maybe someone else will come through.

i have the driver side latch--just checked my extra against the one on my car. Not sure what the round head bolt in the pic is for, but for 69, the latch was fastened with two sort of dome top hex bolts. I made mine from stainless bolts which I filed the slight dome into. Then sanded the file marks out.

If you are interested in the latch, PM me.

The round bolt is actually the part that screws into the seat back to keep the back from touching the bottom, and keeps the seat more upright, it rests against a rubber piece that is attached to the seat bottom. This is for 67 and 68 for sure, not sure about 69.
